Game Notes

Giants power by the Phillies 8-5.

San Francisco clubs Philadelphia pitching for 6 homers en route to the win. Ellis Burks goes 4-of-4 to lead the Giants.

After the Phillies answer a 2-run 1st inning homer with a 2-run blast by Pat Burrell off Kirk Rueter, San Francisco responds with solo HRs off Kent Bottenfield by Burks and Rich Aurelia in the 2nd.

Philadelphia takes a 5-4 lead after 3 RBI by Doug Glanville, but the Giants draw even on a Sac Fly by Doug Mirabelli in the 6th. The floodgates open in the bottom of the 7th as Ed Vosberg allows 3 solo homers, the first to Bill Mueller breaking the tie, the last to J.T. Snow for his 1000th career hit.
