Chicago's bats finally produce in the 9th after being handcuffed by Francisco Cordova for 7 2/3 innings. Cordova is aided by 2 Cubs being thrown out at home plate while protecting a 1-0 lead.

Pittsburgh got its lone run after a throwing error by Jon Lieber on Brian Giles' infield single puts Giles on 3rd to score on a Sac Fly in the 4th.

The Cubs break through against Jason Christiansen in the 9th when Jeff Blauser leads off with a pinch-hit HR, and then 2 walks and a single set the stage for Henry Rodriguez's game-winning single.
