Chicago continues a pre-game celebration of Harry Caray's return to the broadcast booth with a whitewashing of Cincinnati. The Cubs jump on Tom Browning for 3 runs in the 1st inning and continue piling up the runs.

Andre Dawson leads the way going 4-of-5, driving in the 1st run. Jody Davis and Keith Moreland add RBI singles in the 1st. Chicago breaks the game open, taking a 6-1 lead in the 5th when Leon Durham and Jerry Mumphrey deliver RBI singles ahead of an RBI double by Shawon Dunston.

The Cubs add 3 more in the 6th for a 9-1 lead. Rick Sutcliffe goes 6 innings before running out of gas in the 7th after giving up 5 hits and 2 runs to become the season's 1st 7-game winner.
