Game Notes

Reds rally, beat the Cubs 6-5 in 10 innings.

Cincinnati overcomes a 5-1 deficit against a shaky Chicago bullpen. The Cubs had tagged Ron Robinson with 3 runs in the 1st and stretch their lead to 5-1 entering the 7th.

However, Rick Sutcliffe staggers in the 7th, allowing 2 singles to start the inning before departing after Ron Oester's RBI single with 1 out. The Reds score twice more in the inning to close within 5-4. Joel Youngblood's pinch-hit HR in the 8th ties it.

Cincinnati overcomes having Eric Davis' leadoff single in the 10th erased with a caught stealing when Todd Benzinger doubles with 2 outs and then is able to score when Domingo Ramos throws wildly to 1st on what would have been an easy out following Joe Oliver's ground ball.

Jerome Walton grounds out to start the bottom of the 10th, capping an 0-of-4 night that brings his 30-game hitting streak to an end.
