Jacoby Ellsbury goes 4-of-5 with 2 RBIs to lead Boston. Ellsbury only misses out on a 5-hit game when he flies out to start the 9th. Ellsbury singles on his 1st 2 at-bats before doubling home 2 runs off Jeremy Guthrie in a 4-run 4th. He then doubles home an insurance run in the 6th after Kansas City draws within 1 run.

The Royals strike back for 3 runs in the 5th, sparked by Eric Hosmer's RBI double before scoring. However, Kansas City strands 2 runners, part of the 10 the Royals leave on base, missing plenty of chances to win their 16th time in 18 games.
