Brewers beat the Tigers 5-3.

Milwaukee gets a stellar start from Bill Wegman to beat Detroit. Wegman goes 8 2/3 innings scattering 9 hits and 3 runs. Wegman is in line for a complete game after retiring the 1st 2 batters in the 9th before allowing a pair of singles while leading 5-1.

The Tigers struck first when Cecil Fielder homers to center in the 2nd. The Brewers answer when Darryl Hamitlon leads off the bottom of the 2nd with a ground-rule double off Frank Tanana and then scores on Dale Sveum's single. Milwaukee takes the lead on Dante Bichette's 2-run HR in the 7th and then tacks on 2 more runs in the 7th.
