Texas weathers an 18-hit barrage by Detroit by capitalizing more on the Rangers' 16 hits. David Murphy goes 4-of-5 with 2 HRs, and 5 RBI to lead the Texas attack. Ian Kinsler homers for the 2nd straight game.

Murphy's 1st HR, a 3-run shot in a 4-run 2nd proves to be a big blow, giving the Rangers a 4-0 lead on a night when the Tigers would keep responding with offense of their own. He homers again in the 4th, followed by Kinsler's 2-run shot for a 7-2 lead that repeatedly shrinks.
