North Carolina starts hot hitting its 1st 10 shots and then weathers a mid-contest surge by Georgia before pulling away for the win behind James Worthy's 19 points and Sam Perkins' 15. Dominique Wilkins stars for the Bulldogs with 19 points.

Georgia cut a 20-7 deficit to 3 with a run of 10 straight points in the 1st half and stayed close despite an early 2nd half run by the Tar Heels. However, in the closing minutes North Carolina took control behind Worthy and Michael Jordan while using its 4-corners offense.
