UCLA vs. Indiana
Network: Mizlou
Announcers: Howard David, Bill Rafftery
Format: DVD (2 disks)
Quality: 8.0
Notes: Commercials and halftime edited out... Quite a bit of light tracking in middle of picture at times, especially for mid-80s... Some bad editing, both half join a few seconds in progress, late in the game timeouts are edited, going directly from timeout to inbounds giving a real jarring, 'is something missing?' effect.
Game Notes
UCLA Bruins avoid a late-game collapse to hold off Indiana for a 65-62 win and their 1st NIT championship.
UCLA opens a 10-point lead, but sees the Hoosiers slice it to 62-60 on Steve Alford's jumper w/ :22 left capping a furious run by Indiana offensively, and missed free throws and turnovers by the Bruins. However, Reggie Miller stops the rally with a dunk following a long pass off the inbounds. Miller does serious damage from the outside, scoring 18 points.
Nigel Miguel adds 18 points and 8 assists, while Montel Hatcher puts in 14 for the Bruins. Alford scores 16 to lead Indiana with Stew Robinson scoring 8 points to go with 10 assists.
