Michigan State pulls away in the 2nd half as Scott Skiles heats up and Georgetown's shooting stays cool. Skiles overcomes a cold start, to score 24 points and add 5 assists to lead the Spartans, who hit 54% from the floor and 68% in the 2nd half.

Michigan State gets stellar performances from Skiles' supporting cast as Larry Polec adds 16 points and 10 rebounds and Vernon Carr adds 13 points and 6 rebounds. David Wingate leads the Hoyas with 17 points and Reggie Williams adds 15 despite being in foul trouble much of the game.

Georgetown pulls within 43-40 in the 2nd half, but Ralph Walker's block shot leads to a transition basket by Polec sparking a 19-9 run that breaks the contest open.
