Duke hangs on for the win when Johnny Dawkins' blocks David RIvers' shot at the buzzer to deny Notre Dame's rally. Dawkins leads the way for the Blue Devils with 18 points and 8 rebounds while Mark Alarie adds 22 points.

The Irish also had a chance to take the lead moments earlier after a Duke turnover, but Scott Hicks fumbles the ball away in the lane. Rivers and Ken Barlow lead the Irish with 21 points each.
