#18 Spartans rally to beat the Huskies 72-70.

Michigan State overcomes a 12-point deficit with a big surge and then fends off Washington in the closing minutes. The Spartans turn up the tempo with man-to-man defense, sparking a 13-1 lead that puts them in control in the 2nd half.

After Michigan State reverts to its zone defense, the Huskies stabilize and fight to the finish with Scott Skiles hitting a pair of free throws with 2 seconds left. Skiles finishes with 31 points with backcourt mate Darryl Johnson adds 22 points. The duo spears the Spartans' 2nd half surge that features 19-of-28 shooting from the field.

However, Washington answers and ties the game 70-70 with Paul Fortier's free throws with 29 seconds left. Christian Welp leads the Huskies with 22 points while Shag Williams adds 16.
