Michigan avenges 2 earlier lopsided losses to Illinois as Sean Higgins puts back a rebound with :01 left to advance the Wolverines to the championship game. Higgins' basket capped a strong effort off the bench as he adds 14 for Michigan while adding 3 rebounds and 2 blocks.

The Wolverines, led by Glen Rice's 28 points and Loy Vaught's 16 boards manages to lead through most of the game, but then faces a late surge by the Illini. Kenny Battle has 29 points while Nick Anderson adds 17.
