Wolverines finally put away the Musketeers for a 92-87 win.

Michigan jumps from the frying pan of controversy after the firing of coach Bill Frieder after he accepted Arizona State's job days before the NCAA tournament starts, into the fire of a determined Xavier team. The Musketeers lead for much of the contest, with Michigan unable to open a lead of more than a basketball until the closing minutes.

Glen Rice leads the way with 5 3-pointers, finishing with 23 points, equaling Rumeal Robinson's total. The Wolverines hold just a 1-point lead with 2:03 to play before going on a 6-0 run to wrest control of the game. Tyrone Hill leads Xavier with 21 points, while Derek Strong adds 18.
