Syracuse finally beats Georgetown in the conference championship game after losing the 4 previous matchups. The Orangemen nurse a single digit lead for most of the game, and win it on Dave Johnson's jumper with 6 seconds left after the Hoyas had tied it on Joey Brown's 3-pointer.

Freshman Lawrence Moten leads Syracuse with 20 points and 7 rebounds, and Mike Hopkins adds 15 points, hitting 6-of-7 shots. Alonzo Mourning finishes with 23 points and 8 rebounds while Robert Churchwell adds 16 points but is unable to hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer.
