LaSalle erases a 76-71 deficit with just 1:20 left as top-seeded Manhattan turns it over on 3 straight possessions to cough up the lead. Bron Holland becomes the unlikely hero, hitting a 12-foot jumper for the lead and win w/ 11.6 seconds left.

The Explorers' banger provided the finish while Randy Woods and Jack Hurd contributed most of the points, finishing with 32 and 23, respectively. The Jaspers had been bidding for an automatic NCAA berth after having last made the tournament in 1958. Manhattan lead throughout most of the 2nd half, but fell victim to LaSalle for the 20th time in 21 meetings.
