Virginia Tech gets a pair of special teams TDs and Lee Suggs rushes for 122 yards and a TD on 11 carries to lead the Hokies over East Carolina. David Garrard throws for 296 yards, but the Pirates can't overcome an early deficit, mistakes and 3 turnovers.

Cory Bird returns a blocked punt 9 yards for a TD as part of a 17-point first quarter by the Hokies. Andre Davis' 87-yard punt return for a score opens a 31-0 lead for Virginia Tech in the 2nd quarter.
