Verron Haynes rushes for a career-high 204 yards and 1 TD, while Billy Bennett hits 6 FGs. Georgia outgains Georgia Tech 442 to 242 en route to its first win in the in-state battle in 4 years.

With the Bulldogs kicking FGs, the Jackets are able to wrestle a 17-15 lead on Joe Burns' 37-yard TD run in the 3rd quarter. However, Haynes puts Georgia back in front with a 3-yard TD run and then Tim Wansley returns an INT 28 yards for a score and 28-17 lead in the 4th quarter.
