Alabama rallies in the 4th quarter, and then survives when Tony Yelk's 47-yard FG attempt apparently doesn't hook enough, and is ruled "No Good" in the final minute despite video replays raising doubt. Iowa State had lead throughout until Andrew Zow hits Tony Jones with a 27-yard TD pass w/ 4:44 left in the game.

The Cyclones drove back for the ill-fated final attempt, Yelk's 3rd miss of the night as Iowa State fails to capitalize on multiple chances. Seneca Wallace throws for 284 yards, while Ennis Haywood rushes for 124 yards. Zow is 11-of-19 for 119 yards, but delivers at critical times as the Tide overcomes a 456-to-269 yard disadvantage.
