Cyclones start fast, get the winning kick for the finish in a 17-14 win over the Hawkeyes.

Iowa State jumps in front 14-0, then shuts down as Iowa rallies in the 2nd half, but Tony Yelk hits a 32-yard FG early in the 4th quarter to lift the Cyclones to their 4th straight win over the Hawkeyes. Seneca Wallace carries the Iowa State attack, throwing for 227 yards and 1 TD, helping to overcome a strong Iowa effort that holds Ennis Haywood to just 73 yards and 1 TD.

Wallace hits Lane Danielsen with a 2-yard TD pass in the 1st quarter and Haywood adds a 7-yard TD run late in the 1st half. However, the Cyclones are unable to slow Ladell Betts in the 2nd half. Betts rushes for 150 yards, drawing Iowa even with a 14-yard TD reception from Kyle McCann and then breaking loose for a 42-yard TD run.
