Kansas State gets a fortunate break to score its lone TD and then relies on its defense to keep Southern Cal behind. Josh Scobey fumbles before he reaches the end zone in the 2nd quarter, but guard Nick Leckey falls on it for the TD and 10-0 lead.

Scobey rushes for 165 yards to carry the Wildcats' offense. The Trojans pull within 10-6 on Sultan McCullough's 7-yard TD run in the 3rd quarter, but USC's rally hopes fade when Carson Palmer fumbles while being sacked after the Trojans get inside the Kansas State 30 on the final drive.
