The Irish' 1st threat to rally ends with a fumble, the second ends when Doug Bessette breaks up a pass in the end zone, and the final hope fades when Sean Guthrie sacks Matt LoVecchio on 4th down in the final minute.

Notre Dame had taken a 17-14 lead on Nick Setta's 42-yard FG in the 3rd quarter. But the Eagles have the answer defensively and offensively as William Green rushes for 195 yards and a 70-yard TD run, and adds a 71-yard TD reception in the 3rd quarter.
