Wesley Mallard breaks up Jason Gesser's pass into the end zone on the final play to preserve Oregon's win and make Washington State the 5th unbeaten team to fall on the day. Gesser had rallied the Cougars on a final drive with no time outs, going 78 yards to the 8-yard line before the final fateful incompletion.

Gesser had pulled Washington State within 24-17 with a 15-yard TD pass to Jerome Riley w/ 4:25 to play. However, the Cougars can't overcome a porous defense that gives up 446 yards rushing to the Ducks.
