Joe Pa remains 'O Pa" for 2001 as Penn State drops its 3rd straight starting the season, preventing Paterno from tying Bear Bryant's win record. Iowa holds the Lions to just 194 total yards, including 33 yards rushing.

Ladell Betts rushes for 95 yards, and 2 1st-half TDs, and Kyle McCann throws for 225 yards and 1 TD. McCann's 25-yard TD pass to Kahlil Hill gives Iowa a 21-5 lead w/ :25 left in the 1st half. With a struggling offense, half of the Lions' points come on a safety and blocked punt for a TD.
