The defending Big 10 champs struggle replacing Drew Brees, but get a solid performance by Joey Harris, who rushes for 79 yards and 1 TD on 7 carries. His 16-yard TD run gives Purdue a 19-7 lead before Adam Hoover hits LaDaris Vann with a 17-yard TD pass in the 3rd quarter, giving the Bearcats hopes of an upset.
