Game Notes
#1 Hurricanes spank the #2 Cornhuskers 37-14.
Miami opens a 34-0 lead in the 1st half over Nebraska, a controversial BCS selection after its drubbing in the final game. However, the Canes leave little controversy about the National Championship as Ken Dorsey throws for 362 yards and 3 TDs, while the Miami defense quiets the Cornhuskers for all but a brief span in the 2nd half when they get a pair of quick TDs.
Dorsey connects with Andre Johnson on a 49-yard TD pass to spark the rout. Johnson catches 7 passes for 199 yards and 2 TDs, while Jeremy Shockey adds 5 catches for 85 yards and a TD. Clinton Portis rushes for 104 yards, including a 39-yard TD run that makes it 14-0 in the 2nd quarter.
Following James Lewis' 47-yard INT return for a score, Dorsey hits Shockey and Johnson for TDs to go up 34-0 before halftime as Miami closes in on its 5th National Title.
