Georgia Tech makes a goal-line stand early to deny Stanford an early lead, and then puts together a clock-killing drive in the 4th quarter to set up Kelly Campbell's 2-yard TD run on an end-around to seal the victory. Twice the Jackets stall Cardinal drives in the 1st half, allowing them to build a 17-3 lead.

Stanford rallies, pulling within 17-14 on Chris Lewis' 4-yard TD pass to Teyo Johnson and ensuing 2-point coversion. However, Tech allows Stanford to close no more. George Godsey throws for 266 yards and 1 TD to lead the Jackets, while Sean Gregory replaces ineligible Joe Burns and rushes for 91 yards and 1 TD.
