Down 20-17 at the half, Washington State takes over in the second half and withstands Purdue's aerial assault. John Orton puts it up 75 times, resulting in 419 yards and 2 TDs.

However, the Boilermakers turn it over 5 times, including a 45-yard INT return by Jason David for the opening score. Jason Gesser throws for 281 yards and 1 TD, and guides the Cougars' rally, scoring the go-ahead TD on a 1-yard plunge in the 3rd quarter.
