Tied 20-20 at the start of the 4th quarter, Colorado erupts to pull away from Iowa State. Robert Hodge hits Derek McCoy with a 6-yard TD pass for the go-ahead score and Medford Moorer returns a fumble 71 yards for a 34-20 lead w/ 5:12 to play.

The Cyclones draw within a score on Seneca Wallace's 6-yard TD run, but Colorado answers with a 5-yard TD run by Bobby Purify w/ 1:43 left. Purify takes over when Chris Brown leaves with an injury and rushes for 174 yards to carry the Buffaloes' attack.
