The Gophers manage a 9-7 halftime lead on 3 FGs by Dan Nystrom. But the Boilermakers take over in the 3rd quarter, taking the lead when Ralph Turner returns an INT 23 yards for a score, then Harris follows with his 2nd TD run before Orton's 3-yard TD pass to Shaun Phillips makes it 28-9.
