Pitt holds Rutgers to just 164 yards, and gets the 1st TD when Gerald Hayes scoops up a fumble and returns it 8 yards for a score and 10-0 lead. Rod Rutherford gets the Panthers' offense in the end zone with a 31-yard TD pass to Lance Slade in the 3rd quarter.
