Game Notes

Rainbow Warriors put away the Spartans 40-31 in an ugly win.

Hawaii becomes bowl-eligible, but really the 2 teams put on an exhibition in undisciplined, poorly coached football, combing for 28 penalties for 277 yards and 6 turnovers. The Warriors do the best job of overcoming the mistakes, as Timmy Chang throws for 365 yards and 3 TDs, with Justin Colbert catching 11 passes for 156 yards and 2 TDs.

Backup QB Shawn Withy-Allen gives Hawaii a 28-17 lead at halftime with a 40-yard TD pass to Neal Gossett, and a safety in the 3rd quarter extends the lead to 30-17. However, San Jose State won't go away with Scott Rislov throwing for 287 yards and 3 TDs, including a 90-yard TD pass to Juan Walden to cut the lead to 33-31 before the Warriors add a late TD to seal the win.
