Cougars light up the Orangemen 42-21.

Bart Engemann throws for 386 yards and 3 TDs while running for another TD. With Syracuse hanging in the game in the 4th quarter, Engemann connects with Toby Christensen on a 50-yard TD pass to open a 33-21 lead. Curtis Brown's 1-yard TD run puts away the Orangemen late in the 4th quarter.

BYU jumps out to a 21-7 lead before Damien Rhodes scores a pair of TDs to pull Syracuse even at 21-21. Rhodes rushes for 82 yards, but the Cougars counter with Marcus Whalen's 140 yards rushing and Engemann's 1-yard TD run in the 3rd quarter gives BYU a 27-21 lead.
