#2 Longhorns pull away for a 49-0 rout of the Green Wave.

Texas leads just 14-0 at the half on the strength of 2 TD passes by Chris Simms, but then blows out Tulane in the 2nd half. Simms goes 17-of-31 for 186 yards and 2 TD passes, one to Sloan Thomas and one to David Thomas. The Longhorns' special teams score a pair of TDs and set up another with a fumble recovery on a kickoff.

Selwyn Young returns a punt 71 yards for a TD in the 3rd quarter to open a 28-0 lead, and then Cedric Griffin returns blocked FG 58 yards for a TD. After the Green Wave fumbles the ensuing kickoff Young scores the 1st of his 2 TD runs.
