Auburn never makes it past the USC 33 yard line, and suffers its 1st shutout since 1998. Meanwhile, Matt Leinart makes his 1st start, throwing for 192 yards and a 5-yard TD pass to Mike Williams that caps the opening drive.

Williams catches 8 for 104 yards while Hershel Dennis runs for 85 yards and 1 TD. The Tigers manage just 164 yards and commit 3 turnovers. After the Leinart-to-Williams TD, Ryan Killeen adds 3 FGs and Dennis' 14-yard TD run early in the 4th quarter is the finishing touch, opening a 23-0 margin.
