Notre Dame responds after Tennessee claws its way back to tie the game 21-21 late in the 3rd quarter. Jeff Samardzija's 73-yard catch and run on a 3rd-and-10 pass by Brady Quinn sets up a 4-yard TD connection between the pair to put the Irish back ahead 28-21.

After a pair of Notre Dame field goals, Tom Zbikowski returns an interception 33 yards for the clinching TD. Earlier, Zbikowski had returned a punt 78 yards for a TD to give the Irish a 21-3 lead in the 2nd quarter.
