#5 Crimson Tide gets offensive in the end and beats back #7 Hokies 34-24.

Trailing 17-16 entering the 4th quarter with an offense sputtering and producing just 1 TD, Alabama wakes up in the 4th quarter. Mark Ingram's TD and Greg McElroy's 2-point conversion pass to Colin Peek gives the Tide a 24-17 lead over Virginia Tech.

Leigh Tiffin's 4th FG gives Alabama a 27-17 lead before Ryan Williams breaks loose for a 32-yard TD for the Hokies. But McElroy and Ingram answer immediately, combining on a 18-yard TD pass to stretch the lead back to 10 points.

McElroy, making his 1st start, throws for 230 yards and 1 TD, while Ingram rushes for 150 yards. The Hokies manage just 155 yards total offense, but do get a 98-yard KO return for a score by Dyrell Roberts.
