Game Notes

Hawkeyes repeat history, upset the #5 Nittany Lions again, 21-10.

A year after handing then-unbeaten Penn State its 1st loss and knocking it from the national title picture, Iowa repeats the outcome again, with a dramatic 4th quarter reversal. It's the Hawkeyes' 7th win in the last 8 meetings with the Lions.

Penn State appears to be weathering a rainy night just fine, leading 10-5 in the 4th quarter on the strength of a 79-yard TD pass from Daryll Clark to Chaz Powell on the Lions' 1st play. However, the rain stays steady while Penn State deteriorates from there. Clark finishes 12-of-32 for 198 yards, 1 TD and 3 INTs.

But Penn State still leads 10-5 until Adrian Clayborn blocks a punt and returns it 53 yards for a go-ahead score w/ 12:21 left in the game. Despite good field position after a 15-yard penalty, the Lions' outlook gets worse when Evan Royster fumbles in Iowa territory. The Hawkeyes respond by driving for Adam Robinson's 13-yard TD and 18-10 lead. An INT sets up the clincher a 31-yard FG by Daniel Murray.
