Gophers' defense delivers in a rally and 23-20 OT win over the Orangemen.

Minnesota blanks Syracuse in the 2nd half after trailing 20-14 at halftime, and then wins it in OT when Nathan Triplett intercepts a rushed throw by Greg Paulus, and then Eric Ellestad hits a 35-yard FG. Ellestad sends the game to OT with a 26-yard FG w/ :57 left in regulation.

Minnesota gets its first score when a bad shotgun snap on the 1st play turns into a Gophers' recovery and Duane Bennett's 16-yard TD run 1 play later. Paulus, playing his 1st football game since high school after playing basketball for 4 years, throws for 167 yards and 1 TD. Minnesota answers with Adam Weber's 248 yards passing and Eric Decker's 9 catches for 183 yards.
