Game Notes

Despite slow start, Bruins pull away from the Aztecs for a 33-14 win.

San Diego State jumps out to a 14-3 lead when Vincent Brown hauls in a 78-yard TD pass from Ryan Lindley with 3:00 left in the 1st quarter, but UCLA takes over after that. A 65-yard KO return by Terrence Austin sets up Jonathan Franklin's 12-yard TD run less just 16 seconds later.

Derrick Coleman's 29-yard TD run gives UCLA a 16-14 lead in the 2nd quarter, and freshman Kevin Prince adds a 6-yard TD pass to Austin before halftime. The final blow comes when Alterraun Verner returns a blocked FG 70 yards for a TD and 33-14 lead in the 3rd quarter.

Prince, making his 1st start since suffering a knee injury early in his senior year of HS, goes 18-of-29 for 176 yards. Lindley throws for 238 yards and 2 TDs, but also suffers 3 INTs and the Aztecs manage just 39 yards rushing.
