Texas, which lost its top ranking and shot at a national title with an upset in Lubbock in 2008, avenges the loss to Texas Tech as the defense puts a physical beating on Taylor Potts and forces 3 turnovers. It helps overcome 2 INTs by Colt McCoy and an offense that never seems in sync.

Texas leads 10-3 at halftime on the strength of Jordan Shipley's 46-yard punt return for a TD. Tre Newton's 19-yard TD run opens a 17-3 edge for the Longhorns, but then the Red Raiders keep rallying to close to a TD down. However, Texas never lets Tech complete the comeback.
