John Clay rushes for 184 yards and 3 TDs, including 159 yards in the 2nd half as Wisconsin rallies then holds off Minnesota to retain Paul Bunyan's Axe. Clay's 1-yard TD run in the 3rd quarter gives the Badgers a 17-13 lead.

Leading 24-13 in the 4th quarter, Wisconsin appears poised for the clinching score, but Marcus Sherels picks up a fumble and returns it 88 yards for a score. Clay adds his 3rd TD run to extend the lead back to 31-21, but the Badgers are forced to stop a late drive after Duane Bennett scores on a 1-yard TD run w/ 2:13 left.
