Nebraska intercepts Jeff Rutledge 5 times, including 4 times in the 2nd half to pull off the upset of Alabama. Tied 24-24 in the 4th quarter, the Cornhuskers drive 80 yards and take the lead on Rick Berns' 1-yard dive.

Jeff Pillen then ends the Tide's next 2 possessions by picking off Rutledge. Pillen and Berns prove to be the heroes for Nebraska, with Berns rushing for 128 yards and 2 TDs, while catching 3 passes for 22 yards, including a 7-yard TD pass from Randy Garcia that was set up by Berns' 36-yard halftback pass.
