Game Notes

Tigers bring down the Gamecocks in the rain 24-14.

South Carolina strikes 1st with a successful no-huddle drive, but then Missouri slows the Gamecocks and rides a 2-headed running attack to the win. James Wilder and Gerry Ellis combine for 176 yards and 1 TD rushing.

South Carolina goes up 6-0 on Gerry Harper's 20-yard TD pass to Zion McKinney on the opening possession. But game shifts after Ron Verrilli's 20-yard FG in the 2nd quarter. The Gamecocks fumble the ensuing kickoff setting up Phil Bradley's 28-yard TD pass to David Newman. Bradley then adds an 11-yard TD run for a 17-6 lead before halftime.

South Carolina climbs back into the game, riding a strong effort by George Rogers who rushes for 133 yards, cutting the margin to 17-14 on Harper's 11-yard TD run and successful 2-point pass to McKinney in the 3rd quarter.

Ellis answers with a 12-yard TD run and Missouri holds on during a heavy rain.
