North Carolina's unbeaten season vanishes in a rush of wishbone carries. Oklahoma shreds the Tar Heels' defense for 498 yards on the ground, led by J.C. Watts' 139 yards from the QB spot and backup fullback Weldon Ledbetter's 122 yards.

After the teams match TDs in the 1st quarter, the Sooners retake the lead on Watts' 42-yard TD sprint w/ :44 left in the 1st quarter. After a scoreless 2nd quarter, Watts strikes again with TD runs of 7 and 2 yards and David Overstreet adds his 2nd TD run, on a 29-yarder, in the 3rd quarter to turn the game into a rout.
