#1 Bulldogs hang on for a 17-10 win over the #7 Fighting Irish.

Georgia builds a 17-3 lead in the 1st half and Notre Dame is plagued by mistakes and then relies on its defense after the offense goes into a slumber. Herschel Walker rushes for 155 yards and 2 TDs to lead the Bulldogs.

After the teams trade field goals, Georgia gets the first big break when Notre Dame's return men fail to catch the ensuing kickoff and the Bulldogs recover at the 2, setting up Walker's 1st TD run. The Bulldogs have to go just 21 yards for their next score after another turnover.

After failing on 1 FG attempt and having another blocked, the Irish finally close in on Georgia with Phil Carter's 2-yard TD run late in teh 3rd quarter, but the Bulldogs deny Notre Dame's comeback bid in the 4th quarter.
