Stanford answers an early 17-7 surge by Washington to pull off the upset behind John Elway's passing and a surprising running game. Elway hits 20-of-30 for 265 yards and 2 TDs while Mike Dotterer rushes for 106 yards and 2 TDs and Vincent White chips in 56 yards and 1 TD and a back-breaking 76-yard punt return in the 4th quarter.

Dotterer scores on a 46-yard TD run in the 2nd to spark a 17-point quarter after the Huskies jumped in front 17-7. Elway started the 2nd half with an 18-yard TD pass to Emile Harry and White followed with a 3-yard TD run turning the deficit into a 37-17 lead. After Washington answers, White slices through the Huskies for a 76-yard punt return and 43-24 lead in the 4th quarter.
