Irish nip the Eagles in a frigid 19-18 win.

One converted PAT proves to be the difference as Notre Dame outlasts Boston College in on a chilly 11-degree night. The Irish manage to convert the point after when Allen Pinkett answers the Eagles' opening score with a 1-yard TD run, giving them a 7-6 lead.

Notre Dame fails to convert on its following 2 PATS, however, Boston College follows up its initial missed kick with another miss and a failed 2-point try following Doug Flutie's 3-yard TD pass to Scott Gieselman late in the 3rd quarter to cut the lead to 19-18.

Flutie hits 16-of-37 for 287 yards and 3 TDs. Pinkett leads a dominating ground game for the Irish, rushing for 111 yards and 2 TDs while Chris Smith adds 104 yards.
