Game Notes

#1 Cornhuskers shred the #4 Nittany Lions 44-6 in the inaugural Kickoff Classic..

Nebraska dominates Penn State from beginning to end, equaling the largest loss by Joe Paterno during his tenure. Turner Gill leads the way, hitting 11-of-14 for 138 yards and 1 TD while adding 53 yards and another TD on the ground as he perfectly executes the Cornhuskers' offense.

After failing to get a 1st down on its 1st possession, Nebraska scores TDs on 3 straight drives with Gill capping the 1st with a 1-yard TD run, and the 2nd with a 19-yard TD pass to Monte Engelbritson late in the 1st quarter. Gill's backup Nate Mason pushes the lead to 21-0 with a 20-yard TD pass to Todd Frain.
