#3 Tigers slip past the #8 Wolverines 9-7.

Al Del Greco's 19-yard FG with :24 left lifts Auburn past Michigan. Del Greco accounts for all 9 points after the Tigers' offense spurts and stalls throughout. Del Greco added FGs from 31 and 32 yards in the 3rd quarter as Auburn slowly chips away at the Wolverines' 7-0 halftime lead.

Michigan starts fast with a 4-yard TD run by Steve Smith, but Smith struggles after a fast start as the Wolverines repeatedly fail to capitalize on turnovers and good field position. Meanwhile, the Tigers grind away with their running game, led by Bo Jackson's 130 yards rushing and Tommie Agee's 93 yards. However, most Auburn drives bog down, doomed by an inability to convert 3rd downs and also avoid turnovers.
